Who is responsible

What is collected, and why

• Trip waitlist: your name, email, the destinations you picked, rough timing and experience level. Used to tell you when a trip is open. Nothing else.
• Enquiries: your name, email and what you wrote. Used to answer you.
• Orders: your name, delivery address and what you bought. Used to print it and post it. Card details never touch this site; checkout happens on Stripe’s own pages.
• Site traffic: page counts, in aggregate. No profiles, no cross-site tracking, no advertising, through Cloudflare Web Analytics, switched on at launch.

Who handles it

Four services do the work one person cannot. Stripe processes payments and holds your order and shipping details. Kit holds the waitlist and sends its emails. Formspree delivers enquiry forms to my inbox. Cloudflare serves the site. All four store data in the United States, which means it is subject to US law while it is there. None of them may use your details for anything except the job above.

What is never done

Your details are not sold, rented, traded or shared with any dive operator, resort or travel company. When you book a trip the operator gets what it needs to put you on the boat, from you, at booking, and not before. Joining the waitlist puts you on nobody else’s list.

Email

You are only emailed if you asked to be. The waitlist writes when there is a trip; it isn’t a newsletter and there is no drip sequence. Every message says who it is from and carries an unsubscribe link, honoured within ten business days and usually within the hour.

How long it is kept

Orders: seven years, because Canada’s tax authority requires it. The waitlist: until you unsubscribe. Enquiries: twelve months, then deleted. Anything else: no longer than it is needed for the reason it was collected.

Your information

Ask and it will be sent to you, corrected, or deleted, whichever you prefer, within 30 days. An email is enough. The exception is order records inside the seven years above, which are kept but will be shown to you.

If something here has been handled wrongly and it isn’t put right, you can complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (oipc.bc.ca).

Cookies

None from this site. Stripe sets its own on its own checkout pages. There are no advertising cookies, because there is no advertising.
