Raja Ampat is where the Pacific and Indian oceans meet, and the water moves accordingly. On days like this one the reef fish come out to ride it, and a diver does the opposite, staying low and close and using the coral heads as shelter.
Behind a bommie the current stops. Ahead of it, when you look out, the reef is still running.
The photographer came round the coral and found two turtles resting together under the sea fans, out of the flow, as surprised by him as he was by them. Dampier Strait, Raja Ampat.
Turtles a pair of them, the Dampier Strait.
