Devils Night

Ambon scorpionfish black

The story · in my own words

An Ambon scorpionfish does not chase anything. It sits on the bottom, shaggy and fringed, and waits for something to come close enough.

The hairy growths over its eyes and along its back break up the outline, which is the whole defence and the whole method at once. Divers pass within a metre of one and see weed.

Lit against black water, it is the animal he would least want to meet in the dark. Lembeh Strait, north Sulawesi.

The technique and lighting lines link to the craft articles that explain them. A dash means the record does not hold it, and I would rather show the gap than fill it.

Postage is by the tube, not the sheet

Postage is the largest single cost in a print order, and it is charged by the tube. A second print travels in the same one.
